PASSENGERS review: your stop!

The artistic film “Passengers” quite famously attracted attention with its description and trailers saying: “In the distant future by the Andromeda initiative people have radically ruined their home planet, namely by filling all possible cracks in it with their appearance and making life on it an expensive pleasure(!). We decided to organize a couple of colonies in the universe and begin to successfully reproduce there, and the first of these places was “Native Abode 2”. »

It was not clear to me personally whether this was the first project of this kind or whether there was “Native Abode 1” and the Earth was not meant as it is!? The film is very reluctant and only in small splashes immerses us in the universe of the film, or rather only gives us a touch of its basis without really explaining how people got to the point where they began to set up colonies in space, well, it doesn’t matter, we have place, situation And characters more is not needed for the picture, although details would not be superfluous.

"… In general, our heroes have been flying for some 120 years into a bright future, but suddenly some kind of breakdown occurs on their “ark”..“This is where all the intrigue of the advertising campaign gathers”… and our heroes wake up only 30 years after being sent to “distant lands” and discover that they have another 90 years to fly!"

The trailers made it clear that this breakdown was not a breakdown at all, but a natural event (although no one promised me exactly such an expense, but the slogan and trailers hinted at exactly this) and the main characters, a mechanical engineer James Preston (Chris Pratt) and writer Aurora Lane (Jennifer Lawrence) we have to find out what is hidden behind it and what is their purpose!

Before I take the movie apart, I dare to suggest that I’m not the only one who was intrigued by such a premise and expected not only a lot, but at least something from this film.

And so let’s begin!

The plot of the picture evoked pleasant emotions and was not so intriguing as to what happened to the ship? Why did Aurora and Jim wake up early?? Maybe they were intended for some kind of experiment like shelters in Fallout? Biblical motifs, following the example of Adam and Eve, also suggested themselves, and the “ark” seemed to hint, but unfortunately there is nothing like that in the picture and nothing even close was planned ! SPOILER!—> Chris Pratt finds himself alone at first and the first 15 minutes of the film are extremely interesting and the main character and I are immersed in the atmosphere of the ship, walking around it and exploring many aspects open to passengers. These scenes are accompanied by beats humor, which by the way is in the film a couple of drops yes there is. This humor is expressed mainly in the visual key and the “conflict” of the ship’s AI with the main character, the audience from time to time “giggled” at these and other “jokes”. At the beginning, we have only one character (in the form of a person) and he is mercilessly trying to understand what happened and find a way out of such a difficult situation as being left alone in the middle of space with 5000 sleeping passengers on a ship and a couple of three androids of which only one has charisma, the bartender in a local bar (“Hello oil!") in which our lonely hero poured out his grief, but soon he accepted his fate and enjoyed, or tried to enjoy, alone, all the delights of the ship, although he did not have access to these “charms” everywhere, since he was just a passenger! He spends a whole year in this state and then a rather obvious question arises, why is he alone and is it time to awaken someone else and then the second main character enters the game and so they lived together for another year, which when watching it really felt like a year, because Lord, who could have imagined that there would be so much in a sci-fi melodrama boring and dragging through the entire film of this very MELODRAMAS! Lord, what kind of tediousness the film is slipping into at this moment (well, maybe it’s just to my taste), but the film doesn’t introduce anything new or at least interesting at these moments and doesn’t intend to bring anything into the flesh until the end of the film. We have to endure for a long time and tediously, even until some interesting moments shown in the trailer and the like, until he wakes up негр из матрицы Gus Mancuso (Laurence Fishburne) and the main characters do not begin to take any action to dismantle why exactly they found themselves in such a deplorable situation, and in the end the film seems to say: "I didn’t promise anything!» and everything ends unimaginable BANAL, After watching the beginning of the film, you will immediately have the simplest ending in your head and SORRY YOU WILL BE RIGHT and even less!;(

So what do we https://wild-vegas-casino.co.uk/bonus/ have here?.

The characters play a key role in the plot and it is they who you must imbue and immerse yourself in them from head to toe in order to experience for yourself the emotions that these individuals experience as the film unfolds. There are two of them here according to the pattern boy And girl, apparently in order to reach the maximum audience of the film, plus another “big black guy”, and by the way, guess who dies first?:)

James Preston (Chris Pratt) – the image of a character depends not only on the script, but also on the performance of the actor himself. Chris Pratt plays a simple guy close to the viewer with his own problems and conventions that help him to one degree or another, but either the acting sagged or the character was not written well enough, since in many moments it was difficult to integrate into the image of the main character and his actions raised questions about why it was not possible to empathize with the character to a sufficient extent. His actions are contradictory, selfishness and cowardice, fear are manifested, although with compensation for a brave act in the end, in general, I can’t even imagine in this place Keanu Reeves (planned for this role). Chris coped with his task, although due to the excesses of the script, not quite the way he originally wanted and will remain so!

Aurora Lane (Jennifer Lawrence) – a passenger whom you really believe and worry about him as if he were your own. Jennifer played well and I didn’t notice any sagging in her acting, I believed that she was a writer from the very beginning since more attention was paid to the development of the character of Lawrence (Aurora) than to the disclosure of the character of Pratt (Jim) and there were no questions about her both in terms of elaboration and in her actions.

Android Arthur (Michael Sheen) – charismatic, but at the same time, for the proper image of a robot bartender, empty. Arthur – is primarily an element of the plot and directly participates in the events taking place without “leaving” behind the counter, and is also a very high-quality special effect! The fact that inside it consists entirely of microcircuits, without any signs of humanity, is fully felt.

Gus Mancuso (Laurence Fishburne) – his role in the film can be called a “cameo”. Gus appears as suddenly as he disappears, simultaneously directing the main characters in the right direction. You believe Morpheus, and there’s a joke about pills… nothing more is needed.

The remaining roles are only episodic and, unlike those listed above, do not affect the main action of the film. These include:

Celeste (Aurora Perrineau) – hologram in the briefing room.

Admiral Norris (Andy Garcia) – if you want to look at Garcia in the form of an admiral of an interstellar spaceship navigating the expanses of the galaxy, then Alas! I didn’t understand at all why he was needed as his entire screen time lasts no more than a minute and is present in the trailer inside and out! :/

Junior Officer Fitzgerald (Kimberly Battista) – a “training” hologram flashing here and there throughout the beginning of the film.

What else could I write?!? Oh yes.

Soundtrack at the painting fit and does not cause any complaints, when it is necessary it can create atmosphere and mystery, and when it is necessary to lighten it up with a cheerful melody, in the end the main characters even have a dance battle!

Of course, you can enjoy the film, but you shouldn’t expect anything innovative from the film. A completely typical and banal story, the big disadvantage of which is absolute predictability of each plot move from the beginning to the very end. Perhaps the reason for this is post-production and the tape was cut as such. The theme of the “ark” has not been revealed and I hope we will see something similar in the “expanded” version in Mass Effect: Andromeda, but that will be another story. In the middle of the movie it gets boring, but you can go with a girl, but with friends it’s better to "Rogue One"

And a little more.

The verdicts, as always, remain yours, I look forward to your assessments and comments, because criticism of criticism is an integral part of our leisure time on the Internet and on the website StopGame.ru in particular! I apologize for possible errors in spelling and logic, and also please note that this is IMHO and the film, although not disgusting to me, did not work! All the best and see you on the blogs. 😉
