Opinion about Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor

If you asked me: How do you like this game?? I would answer that – this is the real, evil one, with cutting off the heads of Uruks (and not only), the purest, uncomplicated action, with leveling up and abilities that you use, without stupid, boring and side quests (a la come and get it), with familiar characters from books and films, an open world (not without mistakes). This is "Bats" from Monolith and the action of the year! But first things first. And so, let’s transgress.

What did Monolith do all the time after the release of F?.E.A.R 2? Helped Day 1 Studios develop F.E.A.R 3, and made quite passable Gotham City Impostors and Guardians of Middle Earth. All “this” is sad, compared to their past games. I became even more upset when George Broussard tweeted in 2011 that Warner Bros. IE is laying off staff at its studios, including Monolith. It’s sad that a studio with such a rich history is being downsized. Two years have passed and in August 2013 there is hope for a new AAA class project. And already in November the official announcement and… Here my first (and not last) opinion about this game begins to emerge.

First opinion. I was glad that finally the studio took on something serious, and even in Tolkien’s universe, and not for budget heresy. But I immediately forgot about its existence. In January 2014, after watching the gameplay trailer, I saw parkour a la Assassin’s Creed, a combat system like in Batman Arkham, they also showed the Nemesis system, which was incomprehensible to me at that time. At that moment I thought that they would interfere again, don’t understand what. I began to doubt very much whether they would succeed? And again I forgot, but before the game came out.

Second opinion. The game’s release was marked by reviews like 9.5 out of 10 or 4.5 out of 5 and so on. I somehow didn’t immediately believe such good grades. Started looking for answers. And then “He Who Must Not Be Named” started streaming the game. I watched the first 2 hours and “thought” (rather imposed) that: yes, the game is not very good, the world is not like in GTA, Assassins is better and so on. I thought: How long will there be no normal Middle-earth game??! There’s so much to do there. Then I watched another hour and somehow began to get imbued with the combat system, and since that person “who must not be named” does not know how to play, I went to YouTube to look for a normal, not crooked person. I found it quickly and..

Third opinion….after 47 minutes I bought Shadow of Mordor. I started playing at 10 pm and woke up at 8 am. It was like F.E.A.R., back in 2006 when the game addicted me for many hours. All this thanks to its brutal gameplay. I always used every skill that I unlocked (and not like in Bets or AS). Runes for weapons, which are given for killing Uruk captains and leaders, pumping and changing the appearance of the weapon itself for completing special missions, collecting artifacts and ithildin, survival tests (collecting various herbs) and hunting tests, which begin with shooting spiders and ending with a giant kraug. + Beautiful CG videos were pleasing to the eye.

In general, then, for me, it was one big location with the recognizable Black Gate with the Towers of Fangs (like in the films), a bunch of different Uruk models, leveling up, constant action, parkour, story missions (the same Gollum the Naked) and… and… something was missing, but it didn’t make me want to play any less. At this point I gave the game SG 9 out of 10 or commendable. But most importantly, I didn’t expect that the game would draw me in and like it so much. And then, my opinion only strengthened and changed, for the better.

Here’s my mini story. Once, while walking around the Udun expanses, I noticed the captain and wanted to sew him up. I didn’t know his weaknesses or strengths, and I didn’t want to find out then, I was going on a plot mission. So I climb onto some ruins and jump on him with a blow from above. He turned out to be invulnerable to sneak attacks, a battle ensued. I was still poorly pumped, so I had to tinker, and then the Uruks came running and another captain. Having dealt with the first, I set about taking on the second, but that was not the case. Two more came running, and with them a bunch of Uruks. I thought about retreating from the board where there are three strong captains, but no: Three more will now fall by my hand (I said to myself)! Fierce action began, with Uruk heads flying in all directions, and “This is Sparta!"(those who are in the know) the finishing touches fell just like that. And when the last captain’s head fell off, another one came, but with a rush of adrenaline in my blood due to such a battle, I barely noticed and rolled him away in no time. And then I could barely get away from there because I went into a rage.

Opinion fourth and final. When I found out that there was another big location I was delighted. The second location is the coast of Nurn, a beautiful place with plenty of grass and trees. Here they finally give me the “brand” ability and finally the Nemesis system begins to work in full force. Any Uruk can be branded, be it a captain or a leader. The opportunity opens up to push your captains into leaders or slip your captains to other leaders, as well as brand the leaders’ guards so that at the decisive hour they will come to your aid, and not to him. Also, you can set your leaders against the enemy. The system is clear and interesting + you can threaten the leader and after killing him you will receive (if you do everything correctly) a legendary rune. And the battle is helped by quickly branding the enemy, then it becomes a little easier to fight with a crowd of enemies.

Also in Nurn, there are my favorite hunting missions with the dwarf Thorvin. Subduing a caragor or some other small animal is interesting. In general, the difficulty of combat with ordinary Uruks increases, there are more enemies with shields or berserkers. And captains and leaders can generally be wild! Captains one-shot me several times with their crossbows. And every second one has poison swords or crossbows that shoot explosive arrows. In general: the second part of this game is even more interesting.

Now, about the cardboard open world, etc. d. Yes, the world does not live within itself, but many who don’t like it don’t understand that the game is about something completely different. This game is about gameplay, about hacking and shredding Uruks, about pushing your captains to the top. Yes, I, too, sometimes felt sad when I stopped to look at the world and it didn’t reveal how orcs live, where and how they eat, where they sleep, train, etc. d. Instead, they have strictly defined routes or sitting by the fire and then hitting the sword against the wall. Well, let it be. But if this game hooks you just like me, then it will be very, very difficult to tear you away from the game until you beat it.

I’ll say a few https://tipsportcasino.co.uk/ words about the graphics and sound. There are enough polygons, ultra textures will fill up all your video memory and ask for more, the lighting is normal, there are dynamic shadows (unlike fucking Anril 3, I hate this engine), for normal anti-aliasing you will need a second 780 Ti or 290x. The sound is very good, what more can I say 🙂

I didn’t find anything here that annoyed me, but new games are full of this. In any case, this is my opinion, I do not impose it on anyone. Yes, and this year there was no success with AAA action games, there are none. I expect that there will be a DLC and most likely a second part.

P.WITH. It turned out to be half-opinion, half-review.

P.P.WITH. I collected all the achievements and for the first time in a long time I enjoyed collecting them! They are also lightweight. And the best thing to do is get platinum on PS3/4.

P.P.P.WITH. Although there is something that annoys me – these are the last chances. On a keyboard, it’s a blessing to do, but on a gamepad, and even from a PS3, it’s a little hard. The circle moves very slowly to the center of the circle, and on a dualshocke you sometimes forget where the A and X buttons are. Why don’t modern PC games have two sets of button icons??

Just binge-watched. I haven’t felt this way for a long time! Especially considering that I can’t stand the Frodo trilogy.
The opportunity to place your favorite leader on the throne is simply something! It’s just a pity that this opportunity is given too late, when there’s not much point in it..
Well, the optimization is great. In short, I’m happy as a hippopotamus!

Rather quickly flies by. 🙂 The main plot is short, but who needs it when you can poison orcs at each other and watch.

After completing it, I was left with mixed feelings, it seems like the game is monotonous, boring, but a huge plus is Nemesis and the old, but this is still the best combat system, carried over from Batman. It’s a pity that you can’t replay the game once you’ve already fully upgraded. IMHO hi diable.

too many commas. It’s a little hard to read 🙂

And yes, it’s a great toy!

I’m talking about commas, not about the world, if anything.
In fact, with commas everything is always simple – subordinating, coordinating, homogeneous and participles, which are almost always highlighted, at least purely intonationally. You just need to think about the meaning of the sentence, or read it out loud, expressively. If everything is really bad, break the complex into simple. Although whose cow would moo..

I wouldn’t mind playing this myself, but. Games Workshop what the hell, why do we need mobile projects?? Where is the single AAA game??

A game where you can promote your favorite orc up the career ladder, but this is my dream number, in my opinion it’s 1849 or 1856, it doesn’t matter, what’s important is that I like Mediterranean orcs, like everyone except the Vakh ones, but not very much. Something like this about wahoo, but with boring locations and a flat world I would eat for a sweet soul, this would be dream number 1863.

Monolith knows how to make gameplay games, without distracting, unnecessary frills. And I have an opinion that in 2011 the heads of those who made Gotham City Impostors and Guardians of Middle Earth rolled, but the old guard stayed and made a new action. But the last time I binge-played games was a very long time ago ((

Well, you can’t please everyone. While EA owned the rights to publish LotR games, it managed to sculpt both “adventure games” and RTS in this universe. True, LotR Conquest turned out to be rather weak, but it got its money’s worth. However, I don’t like “adventure games” with shooting and other special effects, it’s not my thing.
Just not my thing.
Therefore, when the rights changed owner, I realized that I wouldn’t see anything interesting yet.
And exactly. The game, of course, turned out to be relatively beautiful. But, uninteresting. Not what I expected. From such a popular brand.
There is no plot, and it does not affect the main events of the book-film.
Therefore, if anyone is interested, let them play. And I’ll go on wandering around LotRO.

because developers make games on PCs for the box model and similar ones, tobizh with xinput technology. Get over it. And Sony gamepads work on PCs like old gamepads, perhaps with binput technology. If it calms you down, sports sims and fighting games are always made for both types of gamepads

This is one of many stories. It happened at the beginning of the playthrough and I was not ready for such a crazy action. That’s why I remember it best.

My opinion is that the game is tedious and boring. There is no plot, there are only one or two locations, no variety. The visual part is cool, no doubt about it. And the orcs turned out to be very charismatic. Well, overall, I expected more, and it could have been done better.

Weakling… I’m with five at once. Didn’t win, though, and then didn’t win again. But I just didn’t go through the story at all, I didn’t even have a second set of skills, so that’s goodbye)

Yes, I also sometimes felt sad when I stopped to look at the world and it didn’t reveal how orcs live,
